Brussels, 12 July 2021
This follows the meeting of the senior officials of the EU-CELAC Joint Initiative on Research and Innovation, held on 30 October 2020 under Mexico’s Pro-Tempore Presidency of CELAC. It sets the direction of future R&I cooperation between the two regions outlining priority areas in the four pillars of mobility of researchers, cooperation of research infrastructures, global challenges, and innovation.
It strengthens synergies with science, technology and innovation multilateral mechanisms, such as the Science, Technology and Society Forum (STS), the Ibero-American Knowledge Space (SEGIB) and the EU-LAC Foundation, which will contribute to the consolidation of the CELAC Knowledge Area. The importance of the Roadmap is also highlighted in the EU’s Global Approach to Research and Innovation.
