The Energy Community Secretariat welcomes the recent launch of the Republic of Moldova’s first renewable energy capacity auctions, encouraging investors to participate and contribute to Moldova’s sustainable future.
The auction, aimed at attracting national and international investors, represents Moldova’s commitment to diversifying its energy mix by introducing 165 MW of new renewable energy capacity, consisting of 105 MW for wind and 60 MW for solar photovoltaic (PV) installations.
The Secretariat commends this milestone, which aligns with the Energy Community’s goals of fostering sustainable energy markets and advancing clean energy investments. This achievement supports the National Energy and Climate Plans of the Contracting Parties and represents a crucial step towards enhancing Moldova’s efforts to reduce reliance on imported energy by increasing the share of renewables in its energy mix.
“Companies are strongly encouraged to participate in this pioneering auction and seize the opportunity to develop renewable energy projects in Moldova,” says Artur Lorkowski, Director of the Energy Community Secretariat.
Director Lorkowski reaffirms the Secretariat’s steadfast commitment to supporting the Government of Moldova in advancing European energy policies, enhancing energy security, and achieving a sustainable future.
