The European Commission has approved, under the EU Merger Regulation, the acquisition of the Slovakian assets of Wiesenthal Autohandels AG (‘Wiesenthal) of Austria, by Hedin Group of Sweden. The assets consist of Wiesenthal’s vehicle dealership Motor-Car Bratislava spol s.r.o. (‘Motor car’) as well as its minority stake in Mercedes-Benz Financial Services Slovakia s.r.o. (‘MBFS’). Motor car is active in the retail distribution of motor vehicles and spare parts and the repair and maintenance of motor vehicles in Czechia, Hungary and Slovakia. MBFS provides financing and leasing services in Slovakia. Hedin Group is active in the wholesale and retail sale of new motor vehicles and original equipment spare parts, the retail distribution of used motor vehicles and spare parts and the repair and maintenance of motor vehicles in the European Economic Area. The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would raise no competition concerns, given its very limited impact on the market structure. The transaction was examined under the simplified merger review procedure. More information is available on the Commission’s competition website, in the public case register under the case number M.10814.
