The European Commission has approved, under the EU Merger Regulation, the acquisition of joint control of Zendesk, Inc. by Hellman & Friedman LLC (‘H&F’), both of the US, and Permira Holdings Limited (‘Permira’) of Guernsey. Zendesk provides customer relationship management software designed to improve customer relationships. Permira and H&F are both private equity investment firms. The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would raise no competition concerns, given the limited horizontal overlaps between the companies’ activities. The transaction was examined under the simplified merger review procedure.
