Brussels, 31 March 2023

The European Commission has approved, under the EU Merger Regulation, the acquisition of joint control of EAC European Application Center GmbH (‘EAC’) by KTEG GmbH, both of Germany, and Hitachi Construction Machinery Co., LtD. (‘HCM’) of Japan.

EAC will provide zero-emission and special application construction machinery. KTEG is active in the development and design of products such as customised excavator parts, as well as solutions, such as customisation of construction machinery. KTEG is part of the Kiesel Group, which distributes construction and handling machinery. HCM is active in the manufacture and sale of, among others, construction and transportation machinery.

The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would raise no competition concerns, given EAC’s limited foreseen activities in the European Economic Area. The transaction was examined under the simplified merger review procedure.

More information is available on the Commission’s competition website, in the public case register under the case number M.11031.
