Brussels, 6 September 2023

The European Commission has approved, under the EU Merger Regulation, the acquisition of joint control of Beanfield Technologies Inc. (‘Beanfield’) by OMERS Administration Corporation (‘OMERS’), both of Canada, and DigitalBridge Group, Inc. (‘DigitalBridge’) of the US.

Beanfield carries out several activities in the fields of electronic communications and connectivity. OMERS is the administrator of the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System Primary Pension Plan and invests in a range of public and private investment products and services. DigitalBridge is a digital infrastructure investment firm that invests, directly and through its portfolio companies, in data centres, cell towers, fibre networks, small cells and edge infrastructure.

The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would raise no competition concerns, given that Beanfield has no actual or foreseen activities in the European Economic Area.

The transaction was examined under the simplified merger review procedure. More information is available on the Commission’s competition website, in the public case register under the case number M.11226.
