Brussels, 3 January 2024

The EU Commission has received on 30 December the seventh payment request from Italy under the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), for €5.3 billion in grants and €15.7 billion in loans, net of pre-financing.

Italy’s request concerns 67 milestones and targets. It covers reforms against environmentally harmful subsidies, as well as in the areas of justice, public administration and procurement, waste management, sustainable energy, and education. It also covers investments in cybersecurity and digitization of public administration, climate adaptation, renewable energy, energy poverty, sustainable transport and agriculture, and scholarships at graduate and post-graduate level.

The Commission will now assess Italy’s fulfilment of the milestones and targets linked to this payment request. It will then share its preliminary assessment with the Council’s Economic and Financial Committee.

Italy’s overall recovery and resilience plan is financed by €194 billion in loans. More information on the Italian plan is available online.
