On 30 November 2021, from 16:45 to 18:15, the FISC Subcommittee will host a public hearing on “Tax avoidance and evasion in the Pandora Papers”.

The purpose of the hearing is to gather information from experts on the recent media revelations that have become known as the “Pandora Papers” and which cover a broad range of topics, including the role of tax havens, intermediaries and the use of shell companies by individuals to evade taxes. It will provide an opportunity for FISC Members to examine the revealed tax avoidance and evasion structures, assess the effectiveness of the European and international legal frameworks and identify possible solutions to the newly uncovered loopholes.

The following experts have been invited:

  • Mr Will Fitzgibbon, senior ICIJ reporter,
  • Ms Moran Harari, Director and Researcher at Tax Justice Network Israel,
  • Mr Benjamin Angel, Director for direct taxation, tax coordination, economic analysis and evaluation, DG TAXUD, European Commission.
