The debt service suspension was originally announced by the Group of Creditors of Ukraine on 20 July 2022. The Group is comprised of Canada, France, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States. All other official bilateral creditors are encouraged to reach swift agreement with Ukraine regarding a suspension of debt service.

The deferral of debt payments will provide Ukraine with additional liquidity and enable the government to continue performing its functions.

Germany aims to conclude its bilateral implementation agreement with Ukraine in the near future.
