Josep Borrell, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission, announced today senior appointments in the European External Action Service (EEAS):

Helena KÖNIG as Deputy Secretary-General of the EEAS for Economic and Global Affairs. She was previously Deputy Director General of the Directorate General for Trade (DG Trade) of the European Commission, in charge of Directorates covering Services and Digital Trade, Investment, Intellectual Property Rights, countries of South and Southeast Asia, the Far East, Australia and New Zealand, African Caribbean and Pacific countries, Trade and Sustainable Development, the Generalised Scheme of Preferences (GSP), and Conflict Minerals. She was also responsible for DG Trade units in Beijing and Tokyo and was Chief negotiator for Free Trade Agreements with Vietnam, Mexico, Indonesia and Australia. Ms König took up her role in the EEAS on 16 April 2021.

Stella RONNER-GRUBACIC as Adviser to the Secretary-General for Gender and Diversity. She is currently Ambassador of the Netherlands to the Hellenic Republic. She also served as Ambassador of the Netherlands to Romania and the Republic of Moldova. Ms Ronner-Grubacic will take up her role in the EEAS shortly.

High Representative/Vice-President Borrell also announced the following appointments of Heads of Delegations of the European Union:

Philippe VAN DAMME as Head of Delegation of the European Union to Cameroon. He has served as Head of Delegation of the European Union to Zimbabwe and to the Republic of Guinea. Mr Van Damme took up his new duties on 1 April 2021.

Melita GABRIC as Head of Delegation of the European Union to Canada. She was previously Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to Canada. Ms Gabric took up her duties in the EEAS on 1 February 2021.

Koenraad CORNELIS as Head of Delegation of the European Union to Chad. He has served as Head of Cooperation of the Delegation of the European Union to Nigeria. Mr Cornelis took up his new duties on 1 February 2021.

Lotte KNUDSEN as Head of the Delegation of the European Union to the United Nations and other international organisations in Geneva. She is currently EEAS Managing Director for Human Rights, Global and Multilateral Issues. She formerly served as Director for Human Development and Migration of the Directorate General for International Partnerships of the European Commission. Ms Knudsen will take up her new duties on 16 May 2021.

Gautier MIGNOT as Head of Delegation of the European Union to Mexico. He was previously the French Ambassador to Colombia. Mr Mignot took up his duties on 1 April 2021.

Dan STOENESCU as Chargé d’Affaires of the Delegation of the European Union to Syria. He is currently Ambassador of Romania to the Republic of Tunisia. He also served as First Secretary in the Latin America and Caribbean Division in the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Mr Stoenescu will take up his duties on 1 September 2021.

Corrado PAMPALONI as Head of Delegation of the European Union to The Gambia. He was previously Deputy Head of Delegation of the European Union to The Pacific. Mr Pampaloni took up his new duties on 1 January 2021.

Peter CAVENDISH as Head of Delegation of the European Union to Trinidad and Tobago. He has been EEAS Head of the Field Security Division. Mr Cavendish took up his duties on 16 April 2021.

Charlotte ADRIAEN as Head of Delegation of the European Union to Uzbekistan. She was previously Head of Cooperation in the Delegation of the European Union to the Kyrgyz Republic. Ms Adriaen took up her new duties on 1 March 2021.
