The Council will prepare the meeting of the conciliation committee taking place the same day.
The conciliation committee’s task is to bridge the gap between the Council’s and European Parliament’s positions on the 2022 EU budget and to agree on a joint text.
After the conciliation committee meeting, the Council will resume its session. It will either endorse a deal or, failing an agreement with the EP, decide on the next steps.
The three-week conciliation period started on 26 October and runs until 15 November at midnight.
Indicative timing of the meeting:
- 09.00 Council meeting (public session)
- 11.00 conciliation committee meeting
+/- 13.00 working lunch
- after the working lunch conciliation committee meeting resumes
- at the end of the conciliation committee press conference
The Council is expected to hold coordination sessions in the margins of the conciliation committee meeting. The meeting can be expected to last until late evening.
