EU Court of Auditors: Ursula von der Leyen on the first day of office of the new President

I wish to warmly congratulate Tony Murphy who has just started his new duties as President of the European Court of Auditors for the next three years and I am looking forward to working with him.

The European Court of Auditors, as the EU’s independent external auditor, plays a vital role as the guardian of EU finances by contributing to improve the financial management of EU funds. The recent meeting of the two Colleges of Commissioners and of Members of the European Court of Auditors in July 2022 was the opportunity to reaffirm our shared commitment to ensuring that EU funds are managed in accordance with the highest standards of accountability, transparency and sound financial management.

I am looking forward to honouring that commitment with Tony Murphy and the Honourable Members of the Court.
