Brussels, 2 December 2024
Today, Commissioner for Democracy, Justice, the Rule of Law and Consumer Protection, Michael McGrath will deliver an address to the 5th Inter-parliamentary Committee Meeting on the evaluation of Eurojust, which will be attended by Members of the European Parliament and national parliaments. The Committee Meeting, which will start at around 15:00 CET, is part of the parliamentary oversight of Eurojust’s activities.
Tomorrow, Commissioner McGrath will meet with the newly elected President of the European Union Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation (Eurojust), Michael Schmid. Their discussion will focus on Eurojust’s critical role within the European security infrastructure, its cooperation with Europol and ways to enhance support for national authorities in combating serious cross-border crime. Commissioner McGrath and President Schmid will also exchange on ways to strengthen cooperation with non-EU countries in the fight against serious crime. In an increasingly globalised and digital world, cooperation with non-EU countries is essential to ensure safety within the Union borders.
