The EU-China Comprehensive Agreement on Investment (CAI) /1 was negotiated with due regard to the interests of all Member States. No special role was reserved for any single Member State during the CAI negotiations or has been reserved in the past in the context of any other trade and investment negotiations.

The commitments by China in the CAI will apply equally to all EU investors who are seeking to enter or are already established in the Chinese market.
