Vice-President for Democracy and Demography Dubravka Šuica will travel to Romania this week (13-15/10) to discuss a number of issues related to her portfolio with government representatives and stakeholders. On Thursday, the Vice-President will meet the Prime Minister, Nicolae Ciucă, in Bucharest, where she will discuss the follow-up to the Conference on the Future of Europe, the summit for democracy, labour skills and mobility, demographic change, children rights and gender equality. She will then meet the Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Daniela Gitman, the Minister of Family, Youth and Equal Opportunities, Gabriela Firea, the Bucharest General Mayor, Nicușor Dan, as well as the Members of the Joint Committees for European Affairs of both the Romanian Senate and Chamber of Deputies. The Vice President will also be visiting the Ominis centre for integrated social services for vulnerable people – including Ukrainian refugees. On Friday, the Vice-President will participate in a high-level round table where she will discuss women empowerment and gender equality with the Secretary of State for Family, Youth & Equal Opportunities, Anca-Minodora Costin-Hendea. Participants will also include members of the Chamber of Deputies, Senators, ambassadors, and representatives of academia and civil society. She will then travel to Cluj-Napoca where, on Saturday, she will meet with the city mayor, Emil Boc, before visiting Babes-Bolyai University.
