The call for proposals was published in 2023 and is part of the EU’s Multimedia Actions which aim to increase the production and consumption of plural and independent information on European affairs across the European Union, and in many languages.

ENR (European Newsroom)
The ‘ENR’ is a consortium of 23 news agencies covering 23 countries which collaborate to produce and disseminate EU news content. Its news production hub in Brussels is designed as a physical working and training space for correspondents from the participating press agencies. Next to their regular reporting, they jointly produce news digests, feeding one another’s news wires and dissemination channels, and therefore offering a pan-European perspective on EU affairs to audiences across the continent. The project was first funded following an open call for proposals in 2021 to cover its activities as from January 2022.
Partners are dpa from Germany (coordinator), AFP from France, AGERPRES from Romania, ANSA from Italy, APA from Austria, ATA from Albania, Belga from Belgium, BTA from Bulgaria, EFE and Europapress from Spain, FENA from Bosnia Herzegovina, HINA from Croatia, MIA from North Macedonia, STA from Slovenia, Tanjug from Serbia, TASR from Slovakia, TT from Sweden, AMNA from Greece, ANP from the Netherlands, PAP from Poland, CTK from Czechia, LUSA from Portugal and Ritzau from Denmark. Ukrinfom in Ukraine, which is facing disruptions in the daily news production because of Russia’s war of aggression, remains a solidarity partner whereby it profits from the enr content, workshops and practical help.

EMOVE
‘EMOVE’ is a proposal coordinated by Arte, in collaboration with 13 media partners. It aims to produce two strands of video formats in 10 languages: the “European News Content Strand” (with a weekly news show based in the ongoing European Collection by ARTE) and the “European Insights Strand” (60 videos reportages covering the issues that are driving Europe). It aims to reach around 50 million people through its video production.
The consortium is composed of ARTE from France (coordinator), El País from Spain, Gazeta Wyborcza from Poland, Internazionale from Italy, Kathimerini from Greece, Le Soir from Belgium, Telex.hu from Hungary, ir.lv from Latvia, BIRN hub (several local organisations in the Balknans), ORF from Austria, RTBF from Belgium, Arte Deutschland (from Germany), RTVE from Spain and SSR SRG from Switzerland.

PULSE
‘Pulse’ project brings together 13 core beneficiaries (among which 10 independent media organisations) from 12 different EU Member States, covering 12 European languages. It seeks to have journalists to jointly produce over 2000 items within thematic networks and collaborative teams. The project would also extend to an outer layer of 13 partnering newsrooms and journalists. The consortium will count on a few journalists working in Brussels as EU correspondents to closely follow EU policy-making, debates, and developments, while newsrooms and correspondents based or travelling in other capital cities will contribute to observe and report European affairs from their local specificities.
