Officials and experts from the EU and China will meet online from 28 to 31 March 2022 to discuss their cooperation on competition law and enforcement.

The discussions will focus on the interaction of the Digital Markets Act and the Digital Services Act with EU competition law as well as on procedural aspects of merger control. Participants will also discuss competition concerns and enforcement in the pharmaceutical sector.

In addition, there will be updates on the implementation of China’s Fair Competition Review System and recent regulatory and competition policy developments in the EU. The 23rd EU-China Competition Week follows the longstanding tradition of biannual competition dialogue between the EU and the anti-monopoly enforcement agencies in Asia.

It is part of the Competition Cooperation project, a 5-year EU-funded programme offering technical cooperation to competition authorities in Asia. It also provides a platform for exchanges on competition policy for exchanges on competition policy between the European Commission Directorate-General for Competition and the Chinese State Administration for Market Regulation. Officials from the Spanish and Italian competition authorities will also join the event.

The objective is to exchange experiences and strengthen convergence in competition policy, to the benefit of citizens and businesses in both the EU and in Asia.
