Brussels, 22 April 2024
Today, the Commission disbursed to Denmark the second payment for €422 million (net of pre-financing) in grants under the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF).
As for all Member States, payments made to Denmark under the RRF are performance-based, meaning that they depend on the Member State’s implementation of the investments and reforms described in its recovery and resilience plan.
On 21 December 2023, Denmark submitted to the Commission its second payment request for €422 million under the RRF, covering six milestones and 12 targets. These include several reforms in the areas of digitalisation of healthcare administration, energy efficiency, cybersecurity, healthcare, as well as research and innovation for the green transition.
On 29 February 2024, the Commission endorsed a positive preliminary assessment of Denmark’s request for payment. The favourable opinion of the Economic and Financial Committee of the Council (EFC) on the payment request paved the way for the Commission to adopt a final decision on the disbursement of the funds.
The overall recovery and resilience plan of Denmark will be financed by €1.6 billion in grants. The amounts of payments made to Member States are published in the Recovery and Resilience Scoreboard, which shows the progress made in the implementation of the RRF as a whole and of the individual recovery and resilience plans.
This payment request will bring the funds paid out to Denmark under the RRF to €964 million, which correspond to 59% of all the funds in the Denmark plan, with 46% of all the milestones and targets in the plan fulfilled.
