Brussels, 20 December 2024
Today, the EU Commission has received the sixth payment request from Croatia for €835.6 million, net of pre-financing, under the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF).
Croatia’s sixth payment request concerns 26 milestones and targets. It covers reforms addressing governance and transparency, such as combating corruption, improving the wage system in the public sector, strengthening the governance of state-owned enterprises, and modernising public procurement. Reforms also support the green transition, promoting geothermal exploration, hydrogen development and improving the water sector, and advance autonomous driving.
The request also covers important investments in the areas of health, cybersecurity, and the digitalisation of public administration. It further includes investments in flood protection, the electricity interconnection of islands, strengthening energy security through renewable energy systems, grid upgrades, and key infrastructure projects, as well as post-earthquake renovations of buildings.
The Commission will now assess Croatia’s fulfilment of the milestones and targets linked to this payment request. It will then share its preliminary assessment with the Council’s Economic and Financial Committee.
Croatia’s overall Recovery and Resilience Plan will be financed by €10 billion. More information on the Croatian plan is available online.
