Brussels, 11 October 2021
The 23rd summit between the European Union and Ukraine will take place in Kyiv on Tuesday 12 October 2021.
The EU will be represented by Charles Michel, President of the European Council, and Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission. Ukraine will be represented by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The summit will reaffirm the continued commitment to strengthening the political association and economic integration of Ukraine with the European Union, and the European Union’s unwavering support to Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
More specifically, discussions will centre around:
- the results achieved in the implementation of the EU-Ukraine association agreement and its Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (AA/DCFTA), as well as the next steps
- further enhancing economic integration (in the AA/DCFTA context) in different areas including climate, energy, telecommunications, connectivity, aviation, education and research
- diplomatic efforts aimed at restoring Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity
- further strengthening cooperation in countering hybrid threats and tackling disinformation
- cooperation in tackling the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic
- the Eastern Partnership summit to be held in Brussels on 15 December 2021.
