Today, Commissioner for Home Affairs, Ylva Johansson will be in Antwerp to participate in a ministerial meeting of the Coalition of European countries in the fight against serious and organised crime.

The meeting is organised by the Ministry of Justice and the North Sea, and the Ministry of Interior, Institutional Reform and Democratic Renewal of Belgium, and will host ministers from France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the Netherlands, together with Catherine De Bolle, Europol Executive Director, and Ladislav Hamran, Eurojust President. The aim of the meeting is to review the initiatives launched by Member States actively involved in the fight against organised crime and drugs trafficking, to enhance international cooperation.

The Commission supports Member States and EU Agencies in the fight against organised crime through the European Multidisciplinary Platform Against Criminal Threats (EMPACT). Commissioner Johansson will present the policy and the legislative achievements to strengthen a comprehensive response to organised crime in line with the EU Strategy to tackle Organised Crime 2021-2025.
