Medical support of refugees
Russia’s unprovoked and unjustified military aggression against Ukraine has brought war to Europe. The EU stands in full solidarity with Ukraine and commends the people of Ukraine for their courage in defending their country.
Ministers will meet to discuss a coordinated response of the EU to the health consequences of the war in Ukraine.
On 4 March, the Council adopted an implementing decision to introduce protection due to the mass influx of persons fleeing Ukraine as a consequence of the war. This emergency mechanism allows displaced persons to enjoy harmonised rights across the EU. These rights include residence, access to the labour market and housing, medical assistance, and access to education for children.
