September infringement package – main decisions

The EU Commission is adopting a package of infringement decisions due to the absence of communication by Member States on measures transposing EU directives into national law. Member States concerned have two months to reply to the Commission’s “letters of formal notice” and complete their transposition. Otherwise, the Commission may decide to issue a “reasoned opinion” as next legal step to enforce EU laws.

ECDC issues recommendations for strengthening emergency and pandemic preparedness planning

PHSMs refer to non-pharmaceutical measures implemented in community settings to abate the spread of infectious disease. These constituted the primary public health response during the initial phases of the COVID-19 pandemic, notably before medical countermeasures including vaccines became widely available. In future pandemics PHSMs may again be relied upon to reduce disease transmission and mitigate detrimental health impacts.

Norway: New white paper highlights Sámi perspectives in public health work

The white paper on public health and living conditions in the Sámi population builds on the white paper on Public Health published in 2023. Norway’s general public health policy also applies to the Sámi population.
