EP Think Tank paper on enforcing EU climate legislation
Within the policy framework of the European Green Deal, the European Climate Law of 2021 has set an EU-wide, legally binding target of ‘climate neutrality’ or net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050. The European Climate Law also enshrines the intermediate climate target of reducing EU net GHG emissions by at least 55 % by 2030, compared to 1990 levels.
