Norway will lead defence materiel cooperation in Ukraine

Norway entered into an agreement with Ukraine to support the development of a Ukrainian defence material organisation in March 2023. Norway will now also lead the work at a strategic level in NATO, which coordinates the efforts to develop the defence material work between allied nations and Ukraine. Norwegian funding to secure energy supplies in Ukraine

The Norwegian funding will be channelled through the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). It will be used to repair and maintain critical electricity infrastructure and provide emergency power in areas affected by Russian attacks (NOK 865 million) and to replenish natural gas stocks (NOK 635 million). The support is part of the multi-year Nansen Support Programme for Ukraine.

Kyiv: Finnish PM Orpo meets with Ukrainian leaders and attends Crimea Platform Summit 

Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo visited Kyiv on Wednesday 23 August. There, he met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk. EU Commission pays a further €1.5bn in assistance to Ukraine

The Commission has today paid €1.5 billion under the Macro-financial Assistance + package for Ukraine worth up to €18 billion. With this instrument, the EU seeks to help Ukraine cover its immediate funding needs, with stable, predictable, and sizeable financial support in 2023.
