U.S. Treasury sanctions Iranian officials connected to human rights violations

The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) is designating 12 individuals in connection with the Iranian regime’s ongoing, violent repression of the Iranian people. These designations target members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), officials of Iran’s Prisons Organization, and those responsible for lethal operations overseas.

Zimbabwe: EU Council renews restrictive measures for a further year

The Council today renewed its restrictive measures in view of the situation in Zimbabwe for a further year, until 20 February 2025.
The EU measures in place consist of an embargo on arms and equipment which might be used for internal repression, and a targeted assets freeze against one entity, Zimbabwe Defence Industries.

Myanmar military-linked enterprises and infantry divisions sanctioned 3 years on from the military coup

Since the coup the UK has sanctioned 25 individuals and 33 entities under the Myanmar Sanctions Regime, targeting the military’s access to finance, arms and equipment. Ukraine / Russia: France takes note of the ruling by the International Court of Justice

France has taken note of the ruling issued by the International Court of Justice on January 31 in Ukraine’s case against the Russian Federation concerning to the application of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination and the International Convention for the Suppression of the Financing of Terrorism.

Ukraine: Switzerland implements the EU’s 12th package of sanctions

The Federal Council adopted further sanctions against Russia at its meeting on 31 January. This is in response to Russia’s ongoing military aggression against Ukraine. In doing so, the Federal Council joins the European Union (EU), which adopted its 12th package of sanctions in December 2023. The new measures will enter into force on 1 February.
