September infringement package – main decisions

The EU Commission is adopting a package of infringement decisions due to the absence of communication by Member States on measures transposing EU directives into national law. Member States concerned have two months to reply to the Commission’s “letters of formal notice” and complete their transposition. Otherwise, the Commission may decide to issue a “reasoned opinion” as next legal step to enforce EU laws.

InvestEU: EU Commission signs an agreement with Iceland and Norway 

The EU Commission has signed contribution agreements with Iceland and Norway under InvestEU, making them the first non-EU countries participating in the programme. This is an opportunity to strengthen the cooperation between the EU and the European Economic Area (EEA) by attracting private and public investment. Common priorities are the green and digital transitions, research and innovation, and the competitiveness of the European economy.

EU Parliament background on the week of 29 May – 4 June 2023

Next week, MEPs will adopt their position on the delivery of ammunition and missiles to Ukraine and to help member states refill their stocks. They will also vote on new draft due diligence rules requiring companies to prevent, end or mitigate the negative impact that their activities have on human rights and the environment, such as on child labour, slavery, pollution or biodiversity loss.
