Brussels, 20 December 2024
The EU Commission yesterday received Denmark’s third payment request under the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), amounting to €128 million in grants, net of pre-financing.
Denmark’s payment request covers a total of five milestones and two targets.
In particular, it covers the reform of green taxation, which contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions in Denmark. In particular, the increase in the taxation of fossil fuels for industries should encourage a transition to more sustainable energy consumption patterns.
The application also covers significant investments in reducing environmental risks by remediating contaminated industrial sites, in research and development with a particular focus on carbon capture and storage, and in strengthening the capacity of companies to innovate for the green transition. In addition, this request includes investments in the form of grants to help SMEs digitise their activities.
The Commission will now assess Denmark’s achievement of the milestones and targets related to this payment claim. It will then share its preliminary assessment with the Economic and Financial Committee of the Council.
Denmark’s comprehensive recovery and resilience plan will be financed by grants worth €1.6 billion. More information about the Danish plan is available online.
