Brussels, 10 December 2024
The EU Commission has today received Estonia’s third payment request under the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), amounting to €122 million in grants (excluding pre-financing).
Estonia’s third payment request includes 13 milestones and 5 targets. These include reforms to encourage the uptake of sustainable transport and renewable energy, improve digital public services, reduce the gender pay gap and strengthen the resilience of Estonia’s health system. They also include significant investments to encourage the uptake of sustainable biogas and biomethane as well as green renewable energy, as well as the construction of Rail Baltic viaducts to increase the share of sustainable mobility.
The Commission will now examine the request, and will then forward its preliminary assessment of the achievement of these milestones and targets to the Council’s Economic and Financial Committee.
Estonia’s comprehensive recovery and resilience plan will be funded with €953 million in grants, including €90 million for REPowerEU, the EU’s initiative to phase out Russian fossil fuel imports.
More information on the Estonian plan is available online.
