Today, the Commission authorized a second payment to Malta under the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), amounting to €58.9 million (excluding pre-financing)

On 21 December 2023, Malta submitted to the Commission its second payment request under the RRF for an amount of €58.9 million (excluding pre-financing), a request covering 29 milestones and 5 objectives. These concern various reforms in the areas of construction, waste management, transport, health, education and training, justice, the fight against corruption and taxation. They also include investments in energy efficiency, transport, digitalization and healthcare.

The Commission then adopted, on March 26, 2024, a positive preliminary assessment of Malta’s payment request. The subsequent favorable opinion of the Economic and Financial Committee of the Council paved the way for the Commission to adopt a final decision on the disbursement of the funds.

Malta’s Recovery and Resilience Plan will be funded in total with €328.2 million in grants. The amounts of payments made to Member States are published in the RRF Dashboard, which reflects the progress made in its implementation, both globally and at the level of national plans. recovery.

This payment request will bring the total funds paid to Malta under the RRF to €166.3 million, which corresponds to 50% of the total funds provided in the Maltese plan, with 39% of the milestones and objectives achieved.
