EU Commissioner for Financial Services, Financial Stability and Capital Markets Union, Mairead McGuinness, will be in the US from today to Friday, 19 April. The Commissioner will meet representatives of the digital finance, payments, and banking communities, and participate in several high-level meetings.
On Monday, Commissioner McGuinness will be in San Francisco and in the Bay Area, where she will meet representatives of the business community active in digital finance, including Plaid and Coinbase. The Commissioner will participate in the event ‘From Brussels to the Bay: EU, California, and SEC Climate Risk Disclosure Requirements’, organised by the University of California-Berkeley School of Law.
On Tuesday, Commissioner McGuinness will take part in a financial literacy colloquium at Stanford University and will meet senior executives from Apple and Stripe. She will also meet Mary Daly, President of the San Francisco Federal Reserve.
On Wednesday, Commissioner McGuinness will travel to Washington DC and attend a reception at the residence of the Ambassador of Ireland to the US.
On Thursday, the Commissioner will meet Gary Gensler, Chair of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). She will also take part in a ministerial meeting of the Financial Action Task Force (FAFT) on anti-money laundering.
On Friday, Commissioner McGuinness will attend a regulatory roundtable hosted by Janet Yellen, US Treasury Secretary. The roundtable will focus on financial stability and climate-related financial risks. The Commissioner will meet Jerome Powell, Chair of the US Federal Reserve. She will also give the keynote address at the Europe-U.S. Symposium on Building the Financial System of the 21st Century, organised by Harvard Law School Program on International Financial System (PFIS).
