On 11 and 12 April, Commissioner for Climate Action Wopke Hoekstra will be in Germany to discuss with national representatives about climate action. He will also visit innovative renewable energy projects.

On Thursday, Commissioner Hoekstra will deliver a keynote speech at the Wirtschaftsrat conference where he will focus on energy, climate and economic policies. He will outline what we have achieved so far and what still needs to be done to bring everyone on board. Later at the German Bundestag, he will meet bilaterally with the Chair of the CSU Group and deputy Chairman of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group, Alexander Dobrindt, followed by an exchange of views with CDU/CSU Members of Parliament on climate change and economic topics. The Commissioner will close the day with a bilateral meeting with Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs, Annalena Baerbock for a discussion on international and COP issues.

On Friday, Commissioner Hoekstra will meet with Members of the Climate and Energy Committee of the German Bundestag. He will also hold a bilateral discussion with Robert Habeck, Federal Minister for Economy and Climate Action, and with Wolfgang Schmidt, Federal Minister and Head of the Federal Chancellery. They will touch upon EU-level policies like the 2040 climate target and climate risk management as well as the updated National Energy and Climate Plans.

In the afternoon, the Commissioner will visit Urban Tech Republic – a research and industrial park for urban technologies located on the former Tegel Airport site. Conceived as a collaborative hub to research, develop and produce clean technologies, the Commissioner will learn on the ground how the STOFF2 electrolyser prototype for the production of renewable hydrogen and the HH2E Power Station storage will operate.
