The European Commission has approved, under the EU Merger Regulation, the creation of a joint venture by Deutsche Post International B.V. (‘DPI’) of the Netherlands and Poste Italiane S.p.A. (‘PI’) of Italy.
The transaction relates primarily to the postal sector, in particular to the development of a parcel locker network in Italy for the delivery of small parcels.
The Commission concluded that the notified transaction would not raise competition concerns, given that the joint venture has negligible activities in the European Economic Area. The notified transaction was examined under the simplified merger review procedure.
