EU Commissioner Johansson in Poland to exchange on EU home affairs matters

Today, Commissioner for Home Affairs, Ylva Johansson, will travel to Warsaw to meet with the Polish authorities and discuss the temporary protection for people fleeing Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, as well as combating child sexual abuse.

During her visit, Commissioner Johansson will meet with the Polish Minister of Interior and Administration, Marcin Kierwiński. They will exchange on the temporary protection for displaced people fleeing Ukraine. Since its activation on 4 March 2022, Poland has been hosting almost 1 million people in need for temporary protection.

In the afternoon, the Commissioner will meet with the Secretary of State in the Ministry of Digitalisation, Paweł Olszewski and Undersecretary in the Ministry of Digitalisation, Dariusz Standerski. They will discuss the Commission’s proposal for a Regulation laying down rules to prevent and combat child sexual abuse and the extension of the Interim Regulation agreed on 15 February 2024, which allows providers to voluntarily detect and report child sexual abuse.
