AFET delegation to Mexico and Costa Rica

A seven-member delegation of MEPs will visit Mexico and Costa Rica from 31 October to 2 November to discuss cooperation amid ongoing geopolitical challenges. MEPs will meet with parliamentary counterparts, officials and government representatives of both countries. In Mexico City from Tuesday 31 October to Wednesday 1 November, they will discuss joint efforts to boost the EU-Mexico Strategic Partnership and ongoing work to conclude the modernised Global Agreement between the EU and Mexico. MEPs will visit Costa Rica’s capital San José on Thursday 2 November for meetings with government officials and parliamentarians. Press release

IMCO delegation to Washington DC, United States

A delegation of MEPs from the Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee (IMCO) will go to Washington DC to gain first-hand knowledge of digital and consumer protection initiatives in the US. They will hear about how the EU’s new legislation in those fields is perceived across the Atlantic and assess possibilities for cooperation and alignment. Members will meet with Congress representatives, federal government officials, trade associations, think tanks and NGOs

TRAN delegation to Japan

A delegation of seven members from European Parliament’s Committee on Transport and Tourism (TRAN), led by MEP Jens Gieseke (EPP, DE), visiting Japan from 31 October to 2 November to discuss common challenges facing transport, examine its major transport infrastructure projects and explore new mobility and tourism initiatives. Press release

AFCO delegation to Washington, United States and Ottawa, Canada

MEPs will visit Washington DC and Ottawa from 30 October to 3 November to discuss constitutional and institutional matters with government and justice officials. In the USA, MEPs will meet legislators and government officials, representatives of the federal judiciary and the Supreme Court, and civil society representatives. In Canada, their agenda includes exchanges with parliamentarians, commissioners and civil society. The delegation will discuss the current jurisprudential tendency towards devolution of powers to the state level in the USA and learn about the transparency of the legislative process in Canada.
