The informal ministerial meeting will consist of an in-depth discussion on biodiversity, soil and water, with an interpretation of joint management.
The EU must also continue to lead initiatives to improve air quality and increase protection for citizens and the environment. Transforming industry with cutting-edge technologies and driving innovation for safe and sustainable chemicals.
Integrated pollution prevention and control must be strengthened, along with the transition towards a circular economy model, prioritising waste reduction. Accordingly, the new Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive should ensure that by 2030, all packaging on the EU market is reusable or recyclable in an economically sustainable way.
The informal ministerial meeting will also focus on improving water management , moving forward on wastewater treatment, and on reducing pollution and promoting circularity.
