DELEGATIONS
DROI delegation to Israel and Palestine

For the first time since 2015, a delegation of the Human Rights Subcommittee will visit Israel and Palestine, from 18 to 22 June. MEPs will meet Israeli and Palestinian high-level government officials and civil society representatives. They will also carry out field visits to both Palestine and Israel and hold discussions with local authorities, residents as well as international and national organisations.

 

DEVE Delegation to Zambia

From 19 to 21 June a delegation of Development Committee MEPs will visit Zambia, in conjunction with Commissioner Urpilainen.

INTA delegation to Indonesia

A delegation of 6 Members of the Committee on International Trade will travel to Indonesia from 19 to 21 June to discuss political, economic, trade and investment relations with the EU.

FISC delegation to London

Between Monday and Tuesday a delegation of MEPs from the subcommittee will travel to London from 19 to 20 June in order to meet key political decision-makers and stakeholders to discuss developments in the area of international taxation and the relation between the EU and the UK in this field.

ENVI delegation to Brasil

A delegation of MEPs from the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety Committee will travel to Brazil from 19 to 21 June. In Brasilia, they will have meetings with representatives of the Brazilian government including the ministries of Environment and Climate Change, Agrarian Development and Family Agriculture and External Relations as well as with the Chair of the Environment and Sustainable Development Committee of the Chamber of Deputies. They will also meet with representatives of the Brazilian industry and environmental and Human Rights NGOs. MEPs will also travel to Belém, where they will participate in the Pan-Amazonian Bioeconomy conference and visit Combu island (“Ilha do Combu”) which is protected Amazon forest. Here they will meet indigenous and riverside communities involved in value chains of rainforest products (Açai, cocoa beans).

IMCO delegation to Israel

From 19 to 23 June, a four-member delegation of the IMCO committee will visit Tel Aviv and Jerusalem to learn about the digital advances of Israel as well as to discuss consumer protection, standardisation and customs issues with Israeli authorities.

AGRI delegation to Romania

From 19 to 21 June a delegation from the Agriculture and Rural Development committee will visit Romania. Members will meet national and local authorities, local action groups as well as farmers and dairy and wine producers to discuss recent developments in agriculture in Romania and topics such as the situation in the cereal sector and animal welfare. The delegation will consist of nine Members and will be led by the Chair of the Committee Norbert LINS (EPP, DE).

PECH delegation to Croatia

The challenges of fisheries restricted areas will be the focus of a Fisheries Committee delegation to Split and Hvar, in Croatia, from 19 to 21 June. Members of the European Parliament’s Committee on Fisheries will meet with authorities, representatives from the industry and fishers, as well as non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and researchers to learn more from their experience of the fisheries restricted areas.

CULT delegation to Scotland

On 19 – 21 June, the Committee on Culture and Education will visit Scotland. A delegation of seven Members, led by committee chair Sabine VERHEYEN (EPP, DE) is heading to Edinburgh, UK, to discuss potential cooperation in education, culture, youth and sport in the wake of Brexit, with particular focus on possibilities to continue mobility of learners between Scotland and the EU within the Erasmus+. During the three-day visit, Members will meet their counterparts in the Scottish Parliament, Ministers of the Scottish government as well as the Director of the UK Government Scotland Office Lyn McDONALD. Meetings are also planned with Scottish education institutions, cultural organizations and youth volunteers.

LIBE delegation to Frontex, Warsaw

Civil Liberties committee delegation led by Lena Düpont (EPP, Germany) with Theresa Bielowski (S&D, Austria) and Erik Marquardt (Greens, Germany), will visit Frontex, Warsaw, from 19 to 20 June.

AFCO delegation to Chile

The Constitutional Affairs Committee will travel to Chile from 19 to 21 June to look into the drafting of a second draft for a new Constitution, after the first one was rejected in the September 2022 referendum. Driven by MEPs’ interest for the region’s democratic development and in light of the potential revision of the EU Treaties, MEPs will meet parliamentarians, government representatives, and academics and civil society representatives. The mission coincides with the Committee on Foreign Affairs’ mission to the country.

FEMM delegation to Colombia

A delegation of the Women’s Rights and Gender Equality Committee will be in Colombia 19 — 23 June to examine the success stories in countering the backlash against women’s rights and the progress made in the implementation of the gender perspective of the Peace Agreement. MEPs will also look into the government’s proposals on the right to abortion, which was de-penalised in February 2022.
