Vice-President Schinas is in Israel to discuss cooperation on skills, education and innovation and joint efforts to combat antisemitism.

On Sunday, Vice-President Schinas met with the President of Israel, Isaac Herzog, and spoke at the opening of the American Jewish Committee Global Forum. He also visited Yad Vashem to pay tribute to the victims of the Holocaust and discuss EU support for promoting remembrance.

Today, Vice-President Schinas opens, together with Minister of Foreign Affairs Eli Cohen, the EU-Israel High-Level Seminar on combatting racism, xenophobia and antisemitism. A joint statement on the seminar is available here. Subsequently, he will travel to Ramallah, where he will meet the Prime Minister of the Palestinian Authority, Mohammad Shtayyeh. In Jerusalem, the Vice-President, accompanied by the EU Special Envoy for the promotion of freedom of religion outside the EU, Frans van Daele, will visit religious sites and meet with religious leaders, including an audience with His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos III.

On Tuesday, Vice-President Schinas will travel to Be’er Sheva for a visit to the Advanced Technologies Park, meet with the President of the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and hold a roundtable discussion with students and researchers from the Simone Veil Research Centre for Contemporary European Studies.
