The European Union congratulates Timor-Leste on its parliamentary elections. We commend Timorese authorities for administering a well organised, transparent and peaceful election. The large number of Timorese citizens who cast their ballots confirms the strong commitment of the people of Timor-Leste to democracy and peaceful political processes.
The European Union looks forward to working together with the newly elected Parliament and the incoming government in areas of common interest both at national and multilateral level. Timor-Leste can count on the continued steadfast support of the European Union to its efforts towards regional integration, economic diversification and creation of improved livelihoods for its young population.
