Committee on Foreign Affairs delegation to Washington, D.C. and Wisconsin

A delegation from the Foreign Affairs Committee will visit Washington, D.C. and Wisconsin where MEPs will discuss a wide range of issues, including Ukraine, Russia, China, Indo-Pacific, Iran, EU-U.S. energy security cooperation, cybersecurity and fighting false narratives with representatives of the U.S. Department of State, House of Representatives, Senate, think tanks and non-profit organisations. 15-18 May 2023

Security and Defence subcommittee delegation to Romania and Moldova

From 15 to 18 May, a delegation of Security and Defence subcommittee MEPs will travel to Romania and Moldova. They will meet with the national authorities, representatives of the National Chambers from both countries, international partners and members of the think tank community. They will visit the NATO multinational Battalion in Cincu, Romania ; the city of Hirbovat in Moldova, and the European Union Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine (EUBAM Ukraine). A press conference is planned on Thursday, at the end of the visit.

Committee on Development delegation to Senegal

A delegation of 7 MEPs from the Committee on Development will travel to Senegal from 15-17 May 2023. The delegation will be led by  Catherine Chabaud  (Renew, FR), and will review the EU’s development portfolio in the country, including on: vaccine development, EU support for the Great Green Wall, climate adaptation, and female empowerment.

The mission will include visits to the Institut Pasteur and to a selection of EU funded projects. Meetings with the Senegalese authorities, local actors and civil society are also foreseen.

Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs delegation to Japan

Between 15 and 17 May, a six-strong delegation of MEPs from the Committee on Economic and Monetary affairs will be in Japan. There they will meet parliamentarians and representatives of the Bank of Japan, the ministry of finance, the financial services supervisory authority, and the Tokyo stock exchange. The MEPs composing the delegation are:

Delegation from the Industry, Research and Energy committee (ITRE) to Finland

From Monday to Wednesday MEP will hold visits  to Finland – Eurajoki, Olkiluoto, Rauma, Pori, Tampere and Espoo to discuss developments related to energy, including on nuclear waste management and gas, ICT and research. The delegation from the Industry, Research and Energy committee (ITRE) will consist of six MEPs and will be led by Henna Virkkunen (EPP, FI).

Committee on Transport and Tourism delegation to Indonesia

From 15 to 17 May, a delegation from the Committee on Transport and Tourism is visiting Indonesia to discuss common challenges facing transport, decarbonisation and tourism initiatives and cooperation between the EU and ASEAN.

Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development delegation to the Netherlands

A delegation of five members, led by chair of Agriculture and Rural Development Committee Norbert Lins (EPP, DE) will visit the Netherlands from 15 to 17 May. MEPs will meet with Mr Piet Adema, Minister of Agriculture of the Netherlands and stakeholders representing the horticulture sector. The delegation will also discuss breeding techniques, ecological farming, water management, nutrients and recent farmers’ protests in the Netherlands with farmers, vegetable breeders and fruit growers.

Committee on Fisheries delegation to Ireland

Members of the European Parliament’s Committee on Fisheries will take stock of the challenges posed by Brexit, during a visit to Waterford, Wexford and Rosslare, Ireland, from 15 to 17 May. Programme

Committee on Civil Liberties delegation to the U.S.

A Civil Liberties Committee delegation will travel to Washington D.C. from 15 to 18 May to meet with members of Congress, representatives from the Federal Trade Commission, the Departments of State and Justice, the Data Protection Review Court, Office of the Director of National Intelligence as well as stakeholders from tech companies and NGOs. MEPs will discuss priorities such as transatlantic data flows, privacy, children’s safety, counter-terrorism, antitrust policy and women’s rights

Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality delegation to Denmark

A delegation of the Women’s Rights and Gender Equality Committee will visit Denmark from 15 to 17 May 2023. The delegation will focus on women’s entrepreneurship and will include meetings with representatives of both the public and private sector, members of the Danish Parliament and NGOs.

Committee on Petitions delegation to Romania

The Committee on Petitions will travel to Romania from 15 to 18 May to investigate issues raised by petitioners -illegal logging and the management and protection of the brown bear population- a group of eight MEPs will travel to Bucharest, Sfântu Gheorghe and Suceava in Romania and meet the Romanian Minister of Environment Mr Barna Tánczos, other government officials, local residents, NGOs and other stakeholders about environmental issues.
