A delegation from the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development, led by Mr. Norbert Lins (EPP, DE), will visit the Netherlands on 15 – 17 May.
During the mission, the MEPs will meet with Mr Piet Adema, Minister of Agriculture of the Netherlands and stakeholders representing the horticulture sector. The delegation will also discuss breeding techniques, ecological farming, water management, nutrients and recent farmers’ protests in the Netherlands with farmers, vegetable breeders and fruit growers.
Ahead of the mission Mr. Norbert Lins, Chair of the Agriculture Committee, said:
“Encouraged by tradition and fostered by innovation, the Netherlands have always been an agricultural stronghold in Europe. I am looking forward to the AGRI Mission to the Netherlands and to learn more about the Dutch state of the art technologies in agriculture. I am aware of the various current challenges Dutch farmers and food producers are facing. It will be especially interesting for me to hear their voices and see how they adapt to these challenges.”
Mr Lins will be joined by 4 other MEPs: Daniela Rondinelli (S&D, IT), Jan Huitema (Renew, NL), Annie Schreijer-Pierik (EPP, NL), Bert-Jan Ruissen (ECR, NL).
