The European Commission has approved, under the EU Merger Regulation, the acquisition of ContourGlobal of the UK, by KKR of the US. ContourGlobal acquires and develops wholesale power generation assets, operating 138 power plants across 20 countries. KKR is a globally active investment firm. The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would raise no competition concerns, because the overlaps between the companies’ activities are very limited. The transaction was examined under the simplified merger review procedure.
