The governement of United Kingdom decided to opt out from the Erasmus+ programme, once the UK left the European Union.

Parliament’s Culture and Education and Petitions committees will hold a public hearing on 15 June to review the impact of the UK government’s opt-out decision on the EU and the UK students.

When: Wednesday, 15 June 2022, (16:30 – 18:00)

Where: European Parliament, Brussels, Room SPINELLI 1G3

The hearing will be chaired Ms Sabine Verheyen (EPP,DE). Stakeholders representing both the EU and the UK universities will participate, as well as representatives of students and petitioners Sabine Hanger and Natan Chromic. See the full programme here and follow the hearing online.

Background

The governement of United Kingdom decided to opt out from the Erasmus+ programme, once the UK left the European Union. After having received numerous petitions highlighting the obstacles for the EU students currently studying and working in the EU, the Petitions committee is currently preparing a report calling on the Commission to consider a new temporary aid mobility scheme for EU students at UK universities.
