Speaking at his first press conference as President of the Renew Europe Group in the European Parliament, Stéphane Séjourné announced that Renew Europe will today call on President of the European Parliament, David Sassoli, to take legal action against the European Commission for their failure to apply the Rule of Law conditionality mechanism, which has been in force since January.
“I will today ask President Sassoli to take legal action against the Commission to ensure the Rule of Law conditionality mechanism is activated. Tackling Europe’s Rule of Law crisis is a key priority for the Renew Europe Group, because it goes to the core of our democratic values. The debate with the Polish Prime Minister yesterday only reinforced how necessary this is” said Stéphane Séjourné.
