The Commission has adopted the rules for the set-up and operation of a new scientific advisory group of independent experts on artificial intelligence.

The AI Act foresees a scientific panel of independent experts on AI to assist the AI Office and national authorities in the implementation and enforcement of the AI Act. This advisory body will play a key role in the governance, offer technical advice and input on enforcement, including the ability to alert the AI Office of risks posed by a general-purpose AI model. The Commission has adopted an implementing act to lay down the rules and procedures for establishing and operating this scientific panel. As a next step, the Commission will soon launch a call for expression of interest to select the experts.Source – EU Commission
