Brussels, 13 October 2023

Key stakeholders have fulfilled their pledge to promote a peaceful election environment.

Following an invitation from the Government of Liberia, the EU deployed an Electoral Observation Mission (EOM) throughout the country. The mission has now published its preliminary statement, in which it observes that the elections were generally competitive and transparent.

Official results of the elections are expected within the next two weeks.

The EU EOM will remain in Liberia until the end of the electoral period and will then publish a final report and recommendations for improvements of the electoral framework.
