I am very pleased to welcome here today António Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations.
In this multipolar world, it is more important than ever to strengthen our multilateral system and, first of all, to strengthen the United Nations’ position.
We are facing a lot of global challenges: peace, climate change, fighting inequalities. For this, it is very important to stand for peace in Ukraine, in Gaza, in Sudan – everywhere in the world, to fight inequalities, standing for the implementation of the Pact for the Future, the reform of the international financial architecture, and to pursue our work to fight climate change, to protect our oceans and biodiversity.
And for this, this working lunch with the Secretary-General is a very good opportunity. First, to stress our full support for his personal efforts in leading the United Nations. Our full support for the United Nations and our commitment to pursue all of these global commitments in the framework of the United Nations. Especially the Paris Agreement, the Pact for the Future, and our engagement in two very important upcoming conferences: about oceans in Nice and financing development in Seville in July.
Dear António, thank you very much for coming, welcome again.
