Commissioner for International Partnerships Jutta Urpilainen represents the EU at the G7 Development Ministers’ Meeting  in Pescara, Italy. Today, she will discuss with ministers the development challenges and responses of the G7; one of the sessions will be devoted to the global humanitarian situation, particularly in the Middle East.

Tomorrow, she will participate in a session on food security and Puglia’s food systems initiative, where she will recall that the EU and Member States have disbursed €13.5 billion for food security and nutrition in partner countries since the start of Russia’s war of aggression.

Commissioner Urpilainen will then participate in a working lunch on the sustainability and resilience of coffee value chains, where she will welcome the Italian Coffee Initiative. She will then participate in a session on the G7 Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment (PGII), highlighting the achievements of the Global Gateway.

On Thursday, the Commissioner will participate in a session on global health, focusing on the resilience of health systems in Africa. In particular, it will focus on the “Team Europe” initiative for the manufacture of and access to vaccines, medicines and health technologies (MAV+) with the African Union.

On the margins of the Ministerial Meeting, she will also hold a series of bilateral meetings with G7 counterparts and guests.
