On Monday and Tuesday, Executive Vice-President for the European Green Deal, Frans Timmermans travels to Prague, Czechia to discuss climate and energy issues as well as the country’s just transition with national government representatives, EU mayors and stakeholders. On Monday morning, he will deliver an opening speech at the Green Deal Summit, organised by the newspaper Hospodářské noviny and the Czech Government. Later, the Executive Vice-President will visit the Škoda factory in the city together with Czech Environment Minister, Anna Hubáčková. In the afternoon, he will visit the Czech Institute for Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics and have a discussion on the Green Deal with students of the institute and young researchers. His day will conclude with bilateral meetings with Gergely Karácsony, Mayor of Budapest, and Vitali Klitschko, Mayor of Kyiv.

On Tuesday, Executive Vice-President Timmermans will have a roundtable discussion with stakeholders from the environment, climate, energy and agriculture sectors. He will participate in 11th Direct Dialogues between EU Capitals’ Mayors and the European Commission, organised by the city of Prague, which this year focuses on renewables, energy savings and green mobility. In the margins of this event, he will meet bilaterally with the Mayor of Warsaw, Rafal Trzaskowski. In the afternoon, the Executive Vice-President will meet Czech Minister of Industry and Trade, Jozef Sikela. He concludes his visit with a meeting with Czech Minister for European Affairs, Mikuláš Bek.
