Brussels, 6 December 2023
The European Commission has approved, under the EU Merger Regulation, the acquisition of joint control of Feni Haltim and the creation of a joint venture by Contemporary Amperex Technology of China and Aneka Tambang of Indonesia.
The transaction relates primarily to the production and sale of ferronickel, the production of mixed hydroxide precipitate and other activities related to smelting.
The Commission concluded that the notified transaction would not raise competition concerns, given the absence of current and foreseen activities of the target company and of the newly created joint venture in the European Economic Area. The notified transaction was examined under the simplified merger review procedure.
More information is available on the Commission’s competition website, in the public case register under the case number M.11348.
